The DACH Forum 2026 is build around an academic course on the topic „Innovation & Europe’s Global Competitiveness<\/strong>\u201c held by Prof. Dr. Marc Oliver Bettz\u00fcge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disclaimer<\/strong>: All participants are required to attend the lectures and corporate case studies, regardless of whether they are receiving academic credits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROGRAM<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday<\/strong> from 11:30AM: Arrival and Opening Ceremony to kick things off, followed by the first interactive corporate sessions and a networking dinner to connect with partners and fellow participants.
Wednesday<\/strong> from 9AM: A dynamic mix of inspiring academic lectures and hands-on corporate workshops and case studies, rounded off with company presentations and an evening dedicated to networking.
Thursday<\/strong> from 8:30AM: Engaging academic and corporate sessions throughout the day, culminating in the highlight Speed Recruiting Event with our corporate partners.
Friday<\/strong> from 9:30AM: Final academic impulses, a joint reflection and panel discussion, various company events and a festive Closing Gala with After Party to celebrate the week together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACADEMIC LECTURES<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Disclaimer<\/strong>: this academic course is worth 3 CEMS ECTS<\/strong>. Please note that in order to get the 3 ECTS, you need to be enrolled for the semester, attend the whole course in person and prepare your tasks during and after the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

European competitiveness has been declining, with its economic performance lagging behind the US, China, and other regions. The Draghi and Letta reports point to major gaps in investment, innovation, and integration, emphasizing Europe\u2019s resource constraints and the challenges of the digital and green transitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forum examines these issues from political, business, and economic angles. It begins with three 90\u2011minute lectures including guest lecturers Prof. Achim Wambach, PhD (ZEW Mannheim) and Dr. Thilo Sch\u00e4fer (IW K\u00f6ln). In addition, companies from various industries will present practical case studies linked to their key challenges and the forum\u2019s overarching theme. A panel discussion and a final reflection session will further support critical engagement with the topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEMINAR OBJECTIVES<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n


After completing the course, students will understand Europe\u2019s competitiveness challenges and the importance of innovation, particularly in the digital sphere. They will be able to assess Europe\u2019s global position, recognize the role of energy and resources, evaluate industrial opportunities and risks, understand political responses, reflect critically on business options in a de\u2011globalizing world, and apply relevant frameworks to real cases.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

GRADING<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The grade will be computed from three parts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Attendance is mandatory. To participants receiving CEMS credits attendance counts as a third of total grade. A pass grade will be awarded to students who have taken part in at least two of the lecture case studies and in all of the company sessions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. As a pre-assignment students have to prepare a poster which they bring to the Forum. On the poster, they identify and describe a real-world business case relating to the topic of the Forum. Posters will be graded (a third of the grade). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. As a post-assignment students write a graded individual paper (1,000 words, a third of total grade) after the Forum. In the paper, students should summarize their key insights from the lectures (500 words) and discuss their poster from the perspective of these insights. The paper needs to be delivered to the Chair by June 12, 2026, 23:59 hrs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Students cannot pass the course without a pass grade in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
